abstract Systems and methods are provided for controlling coherence of a magnetic resonance signal of spin species. The small difference between hard π pulses and their delta-function approximation is exploited to provide new classes of spin echoes which have applications in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetic resonance microscopy (MRM), and related spectroscopies of solids, and mixtures of solids and liquids. Systems and methods are also provided for controlling coherence of the resonance signal from pseudospin species.
