abstract This invention describes a heterogeneous metal bearing material, comprising a host material composed of primary particles agglomerated into secondary particles, and a particulate dopant material, characterised in that the particulate dopant material is homogeneously distributed within the secondary particles of said host material. In particular, the dopant material is TiO 2 and the host material is either one or a mixture of Ni x Mn y CO 2 hydroxide, oxyhydroxide, and oxide, with 0≦x, y, z≦1, and x+y+z=1.
