The present invention relates to the use of a pharmaceutical composition comprising at least one strontium salts for the preparation of a medicament for treatment and prevention of gingivitis, periodontitis (aggressive and chronic), periodontitis as a 5 manifestation of systemic diseases and/or necrotizing periodontal diseases. The composition preferably comprises strontium carbonate, strontium chlorides and/or strontium renalate. Further included may be a vitamin D compound, preferably vitamin D 3 . |
