The present invention provides a phenol resin composition which imparts excellent heat resistance and flame retardancy in a cured article, the cured article, a resin composition for a copper-clad laminate, and a copper-clad laminate having both excellent heat resistance and flame retardancy. Disclosed is a phenol resin composition comprising a phenol resin (I) having a chemical structure (A) represented by structural formula (1) shown below in which an aromatic hydrocarbon group substituted with a carboxyl group is bonded to a triazine ring, as a partial structure in the molecular structure, and a curing agent (II) as essential components. |
