Said gene comprises (a) a DNA sequence as shown in position 112-1023 of SEQ ID NO:1, or (b) a DNA sequence that encodes the same protein as that encoded by (a). The present invention also relates to use of said gene in increasing the tolerance of plants to drought and salt stress.
