abstract The invention includes a silica-rich rubber composition, which exhibits good processing characteristics and improved wet traction characteristics, a method for making and a tire having a tread component including the same. In one embodiment, a rubber composition includes at least one elastomer, from about 30 phr to about 120 phr silica reinforcing filler, from about 0 phr to about 30 phr carbon black reinforcing filler, from about 3 phr to about 10 phr of rosin acid, and from about phr to about 7 phr of zinc oxide, provided that no free stearic acid is separately included in the rubber composition.
