Disclosed herein are peptide amphiphiles for use in producing a natural endothelium mimicking nanomatrix. The disclosed natural endothelium mimicking nanomatrix can be used to coat medical devices such as vascular stents to promote endothelializaiton and inhibit restenosis and thrombosis.
