abstract A packaged confectionary product includes a biodegradable chewing gum composition and a package assembly forming a humidity barrier to the biodegradable chewing gum composition. According to an embodiment of the invention significant reduction of pre-degradation of gum polymers may be obtained if the confectionary product is encapsulated within a package assembly which includes a humidity barrier to the chewing gum composition contained in the package.
