An image recording method including: applying an aqueous pretreatment composition to a recording medium having a water absorption of 14 ml/m 2 or less at a contact time of 900 msec in accordance with the Bristow method, the aqueous pretreatment composition containing 10 mass % or more of a water-soluble organic solvent having a solubility parameter value of 13 or less, 1.5 mass % or more of resin particles, and water; forming a blocking layer on the recording medium by drying the aqueous pretreatment composition so that 70 mass % or more of water contained in the aqueous pretreatment composition evaporates within 900 msec from the initiation of the application of the aqueous pretreatment composition; and recording an image by jetting an aqueous ink on the blocking layer, the aqueous ink containing a pigment, resin particles, a water-soluble organic solvent, and water. |
