abstract | The present invention is directed to new methods for treating a subject in need of hematopoietic stimulation. The present invention is also directed to new methods of neutrophil stimulation in a subject in need thereof. The present invention is also directed to new methods of platelet stimulation in a subject in need thereof. The methods comprise administering to the subject an effective amount of a peptide optionally in combination of a hematopoietic growth factor, wherein the peptide is:n (i) Ser-Val-Ser-Glu-Ile-Gln-Leu-Met-His-Asn-Leu-Gly-Lys-His-Leu-Asn-Ser-Met-Glu-Arg-Val-Glu-Trp-Leu-Arg-Lys-Xaa-Leu-Gln-Asp-Val-NH 2 (SEQ ID NO: 1), where Xaa=Lys, Leu, Ile, Nle or Met, preferably Xaa=Lys; or (ii) Ser-Val-Ser-Glu-Ile-Gln-Leu-Met-His-Asn-Leu-Gly-Lys-His-Leu-Asn-Ser-Met-Glu-Arg-Val-Glu-Trp-Leu-Arg-Lys-Xaa-Leu-Gln-Asp-Val-Y (SEQ ID NO: 2), cyclized in the form of a lactam between Glu 22 and Lys 26 ,n Xaa=Leu, Ile, Nle or Met, Y=NH 2 or OH. Preferably, Xaa is Leu and Y is NH 2 . |
