abstract A growing medium includes a bulking agent and an animal by-product, blended together and compressed at a volume-to-volume ratio ranging from about 7:1 to about 8:1, being substantially free of a water-soluble binder material. The bulking agent may also include organic and inorganic nutrients, beneficial for plant growth. Of particular interest is the incorporation of worm castings, a valuable form of organic nutrients.
