abstract Disclosed is a chain which includes a plurality of link plates 2, each of which has a pair of pin holes 4 and a plurality of connecting pins 5, each of which extends through a plurality of the pin hole 4 for connecting a plurality of adjacent link plates 2, wherein an inner circumference 6 of one of the pair of pin holes 4 includes a lower-hardness surface 6 B and a higher-hardness surface 6 A which is harder than the lower-hardness surface 6 B, and wherein a distance from the other one of the pair of pin holes 4 to the higher-hardness surface 6 A is longer than that to the lower-hardness surface 6 B.
