abstract The invention provides a method for inhibiting the transmigration of cells, such as leukocytes or tumor cells, across endothelial cells, by contacting said cells with a CD81 binding agent. Furthermore, the invention provides a method for retarding or inhibiting tissue damage in a subject suffering from an inflammatory disorder, or tumor metastasis, comprising administering to said subject a pharmaceutical composition containing a CD81 binding agent capable of inhibiting transmigration of cells, such as leukocytes and tumor cells.
