abstract In an alkaline storage battery in which at least one selected from the group consisting of the separator surface, the positive electrode plate, and the negative electrode plate contains a metal compound, and at least one of the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate contains a leachable metal, the metal compound allows the leachable metal leached out into the alkaline electrolyte to be deposited on the separator surface, the surface or inside of the positive electrode plate, or the surface or inside of the negative electrode plate. This enables obtaining a long-life alkaline storage battery in which self discharge can be excellently curbed.
