Aqueous, storage-stable emulsions of α-silyl terminated polymers are useful as adhesives, sealing compounds and coating materials. The α-silyl terminated polymers correspond to the general formula (I): n n n n n n n n n n in which R 1 is a linear or branched alkyl or alkoxy group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R 2 and R 3 independently of one another are linear or branched alkyl groups containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R 4 and R 6 independently of one another are divalent organic connecting groups, R 5 is a hydrophobic divalent polymer group; and R 7 is a CH 2 SiR 1 (OR 2 )(OR 3 ) group, in which R 1 , R 2 and R 3 have the above meaning or R 7 stands for a group that lends the polymer of the general formula (I) the property of self-emulsification in water by forming an oil in water emulsion. |
