abstract A transparent substrate with optical compensation ability comprises polyimide having the following chemical formula: n n n n n n n n n n wherein A and A′ are cyclic aliphatic or aromatic compounds, B and B′ are cyclic aliphatic or aromatic compounds. In particular, the refractive index of the transparent polyimide is n x =n y >n z , that is, it has ability of adjusting the negative type c-plate phase difference, wherein n x represents the lateral refractive index, n y represents the longitudinal refractive index, n z represents the vertical refractive index along the thickness direction, and m and n are between 10 and 10,000.
