abstract Disclosed are an alignment material comprising a solvent, a polymer resin, and a cross-linking agent, and a liquid crystal display using the alignment material. The polymer resin is mixed with the solvent to have a weight percent ranging from about 4% to about 8% and includes an amic acid monomer having an amino group in one example. The cross-linking agent is mixed with the solvent to have a weight percent ranging from about 2% to about 20% and includes a diepoxy group which reacts with the amino group in one example. The liquid crystal display comprises two substrates facing each other, and an alignment layer formed at a top surface of at least one of the two substrates. The alignment layer is formed by curing the alignment material.
