abstract The present invention provides a process for preparing an N,N′-dialkoxy-N,N′-dialkyl oxamide represented by the formula (3): n n wherein R 2 and R 3 may be the same or different from each other, and each represent an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, n nwhich comprises reacting an oxalic acid diester represented by the formula (1): n n wherein R 1 and R 1′ may be the same or different from each other, and each represent a hydrocarbon group, and an N-alkyl-O-alkylhydroxylamine represented by the formula (2): n nR 2 O—NHR 3   (2) n wherein R 2 and R 3 have the same meanings as defined above, or an acid salt thereof in the presence of a base.
