abstract | The present invention relates to methods and kits for the diagnosis and monitoring of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection and/or Kaposi's sarcoma herpesvirus infection (KSHV) in a subject, as well as other infectious diseases and agents. In particular, the present invention relates to the diagnosis and monitoring of infectious disease through the use of multiple agents directed at a target of interest. For example, the present invention provides for the detection of HCV infection by the detection of antibodies to HCV C22 core, NS 4 (C-10003), NS3 and NS5 antigens, and/or to the diagnosis and monitoring of KSHV infection by detection of antibodies to K8.1, orf73/LNA1 and orf65 antigens in serum. The present invention further relates to methods and kits for assessing the efficacy of agents and interventions used to treat infectious diseases. |
