abstract The present invention relates to modulation of the activation of hyperpolarization-activated cyclic-nucleotide-sensitive cation non-selective (HCN) channels by second messengers. The present invention provides methods for modulating the activation of HCN channels, methods for the treatment and prevention of disorders associated with abnormality in HCN channel functions, and methods of screening for compounds that modulate the activation of HCN channels. The present invention further encompasses compounds that modulate the activation of HCN channels and pharmaceutical compositions comprising such compounds.
