abstract An organic light-emitting diode (OLED) device, comprising: a substrate; one or more OLEDs formed on the substrate comprising a first electrode formed over the substrate, one or more layers of organic material, one of which emits light, formed over the first electrode, and a second electrode formed over the one or more layers of organic material; a cover provided over the OLEDs and spaced apart from the OLEDs to form a gap; and one or more color filter elements located in the gap to filter the light; wherein at least portions of one color filter element or layered combinations of two or more color filter elements form spacer elements having a thickness greater than the thickness of at least another portion of a color filter element located in the gap.
