abstract A method for processing lignocellulosic materials in which a lignocellulosic feedstock material is contacted with a mixture of dilute acid, metal salt catalyst and hydrogen peroxide and/or hydrogen peroxide-producing chemicals, resulting in the formation of an impregnated lignocellulosic material impregnated with at least one hydroxyl radical. The impregnated lignocellulosic material is then hydrolyzed.
