abstract |
To provide a method for producing a silicon nitride honeycomb filter having a pore size and porosity most suitable for collection or removal of dust, by using metal silicon particles as the starting material. The method comprises heat-treating in a nitrogen atmosphere a green body comprising metal silicon particles and oxide ceramic hollow particles to convert metal silicon substantially to silicon nitride, wherein inorganic particles which react with the oxide ceramic hollow particles to form a melt in the step of the heat-treatment, are incorporated in the green body in an amount sufficient to substantially prevent the oxide ceramic hollow particles from remaining in the form as they are. |
