abstract A bone drill system, and method for using the same, with a highly visible depth marking for a clinician to more easily visualize the depth marking on a drill bit or similar tool. The drill system comprises a drill body, a drill bit coupled to the drill body, the drill bit having a depth marker measured from a distal end of the drill bit and being adapted to react with ultraviolet light to enhance the visibility of the marker, and an ultraviolet light system coupled to the drill body. The depth marker's reaction with ultraviolet light allows the clinician to more easily visualize the depth marker, thus increasing the accuracy of a depth of a bore made with the drill bit.
