abstract |
In the magnetic recording medium and the method for manufacturing the magnetic recording medium according to the present invention, the surface roughness Ra of the first coating layer formed on a surface of the substrate is smaller than the surface roughness Ra of the substrate. This provides a magnetic recording medium having a high performance using an inexpensive substrate. In addition, the second coating layer comprising a magnetic material has a thickness of 150 nm or less, so that the surface topography of the first coating layer, which is a smooth layer, can be reflected on the surface of the second coating layer comprising a magnetic material to provide a magnetic recording medium having a superior C/N ratio. |
