abstract The invention describes compositions and methods for detecting and/or quantifying an RNA or DNA pathogen in a sample. The method comprises a two-round real-time nested PCR, which allows detection of less than 10 copies of RNA or DNA of the pathogen in a sample. The method of the invention is useful for fast, reliable, and sensitive detection and/or quantification of SARS-CoV in a sample.
