abstract A composition for damping mechanical motions, such as for damping of mechanical impacts or oscillations can include at least one collagen as well as at least one carrier matrix for the at least one collagen. The carrier matrix contains a formable material. The composition also can include at least one liquid having or containing polar molecules. The carrier matrix, the at least one collagen and the liquid form a mixture (or batch). A method for manufacturing a material for use in damping mechanism motions includes preparing an essentially non-cross-linked, liquid elastomer parent substance as well as providing a liquid collagen parent substance that contains at least one collagen and at least one liquid with polar molecules. The method also includes generating a mixture from the elastomer parent substance and the collagen parent substance as well as cross-linking molecules of the elastomer parent substance in the generated mixture.
