abstract A method for treatment of liquid waste is disclosed that includes the steps of (a) submitting the liquid waste to a pretreatment and (b) submitting the pretreated liquid waste to the action of fungi or active agents thereof. In particular, the described process is useful for the effective decoloration and detoxification of dye-containing liquid wastes using white rot fungi or active agents thereof.
