abstract A medical device ( 10 ) for use in passageways of the human or animal body comprises a catheter ( 30 ) having an expandable arrangement ( 38 ), such as a balloon arrangement, located at the distal portion of the catheter, and capable of deploying a stent apparatus ( 20 ) mounted at the distal portion of the catheter ( 30 ). The stent apparatus ( 20 ) is a hybrid stent apparatus having a central part ( 21 ) that is self-expanding, and end parts ( 22, 23 ) that are expandable by the balloon arrangement.
