abstract |
The present invention provides polynucleotides and related polypeptides of a newly discovered serratia metalloprotease (SMP), as well as polynucleotides and related polypeptides of a newly discovered serratia metalloprotease inhibitor (SmaPI). The present invention further relates broadly to the use of the newly discovered SMP as a nematocidal agent, either as an administered agent, or as part of an integrated management system. The polynucleotides can be used to transform plants normally susceptible to free-living or burrowing plant parasitic nematodes, such as those of the genera Ascaris and Radopholus. |
