abstract | The present invention is directed to a method of predicting a response to a chemotherapeutic regimen based on loss of heterozygosity at the thymidylate synthase locus in cancer tissue. This method comprises determining normal tissue genotype for thymidylate synthase of a patient; determining tumor tissue genotype for thymidylate synthase of said patient; comparing the normal tissue genotype with the tumor tissue genotype; determining whether a loss of heterozygosity at the thymidylate synthase locus has occurred in the tumor tissue based on the comparison of the genotypes; and predicting a response to the chemotherapeutic regimen based on the loss of heterozygosity in the tumor sample. |
