abstract An index extraction system extracts index information from a web page having web contents which are originally fabricated for use in a personal computer and appropriately displays the extracted index information for a user by using a browser built in a wireless terminal. By performing a contents attribute analysis as well as a HTML tag pattern analysis on a real time basis, index information for use in transcoding web documents can be effectively obtained, thereby increasing effectiveness and flexibility of web contents transcoding.
