abstract An eye fundus camera ( 1 ) having an imaging axis ( 68 ) between an objective lens assembly ( 25 ) and a sensor arrangement ( 66 ), an illumination injection arrangement ( 80 ) between the objective lens assembly and the sensor arrangement and an illumination apparatus ( 62 ) to provide illumination to the illumination injection arrangement. The illumination apparatus includes a single light source ( 80 ) adapted to provide both infra-red and visible light and a selector ( 82 ) to select either the infra-red or visible light as well as a xenon flash lamp ( 85 ). Viewing can be by eyepiece ( 27 ) or screen or by photography. The camera can be mounted onto an ophthalmic slit lamp ( 2 ) assembly.
