abstract A human gene, designated hsCAS1 (2880 bp), encodes for a protein with a glycosyltransferase activity on sialic acids residues. The gene and the fragment thereof, as well as the proteins and polypeptides they encodes, are useful in diagnostic compositions and as a tools for the prognostic of the evolutions of several cancers diseases. This invention is also related on the Cryptococcus neoformans gene cnCAS1 and polypeptides encoded by this polynucleotide sequence.
