abstract |
A method of preparing an aqueous, liquid fabric conditioning composition comprising (a) from about 2.5 to 80% by weight of an ester-linked quaternary ammonium fabric softening material comprising at least one mono-ester linked component and at least one tri-ester linked component, (b) a fatty complexing agent and (c) a perfume wherein the weight ratio of the mono-ester component of compound (a) to compound (b) is from 5:1 to 1:5, wherein the method comprises the steps of the method comprising the steps of: n (a) co-melting the quaternary ammonium softening material and fatty complexing agent; n (b) adding the co-melt to heated water; n (c) agitating the mixture; and n (d) allowing the mixture to cool n wherein the perfume is added at any stage of the process provided that it is added at a temperature at or above the melting temperature of the co-melt. |
