titleOfInvention | MUC1 isolation from bovine milk and whey |
abstract | A Process is provided for preparing MUC 1 from bovine milk, whey or deproteinized whey. In one aspect the process involves providing concentrated whey derived from bovine milk; acidifying the whey; separating soluble whey protein from the resulting acidified whey to leave a MUC1-containing fraction containing insoluble membrane protein and low pI protein; and then separating MUC1 from the MUC1-containing fraction. In another, aspect the invention involves treating deproteinized whey derived from bovine milk with a whey protein solubilizing solution; centrifuging the treated whey to recover a soluble supernatant fraction; adsorbing protein on a buffer-washed PNA; separating the PNA from remaining liquid; and eluting MUC1 from said PNA. The MUC1 is pure and can be freeze dried. |
