abstract A pharmaceutical composition of pranlukast having improved bioavailability is disclosed. The composition is formulated as a solid dispersion, preferably for oral administration. In one embodiment, the invention comprises an amount of pranlukast uniformly dispersed in an inert polymer carrier comprising at least one of hydroxypropylmethylcellulose or hydroxypropylcellulose. In another embodiment, the composition further comprises an amount of hydroxypropylmethylcellulose phthalate-50. A method for preparing the composition, an oral formulation comprising the composition, and methods of treating bronchial asthma and allergic rhinitis with the composition are also disclosed.
