abstract Nucleotide preparations are transferred from a first substrate to a second substrate. One transfer method includes forming a patterned dry particulate deposition on a first substrate; positioning the first substrate in apposition to a second substrate; and transferring at least a portion of the dry deposition from the first substrate to the second substrate to produce a patterned dry deposition of the nucleotide on the second substrate. The method can be used to form an array of nucleic acids.
