abstract | The present invention discloses novel naphthylsalicylanilides of the general formula n n n wherein W is a substituted or unsubstituted naphthyl ring. The substitution on W includes replacing one or more —H with —OH, alkyl, O-alkyl, branched alkyl, or cycloalkyl, containing 1-6 carbon atoms or combinations thereof. Y is a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl ring or substituted or unsubstituted naphthyl ring. The substitution for Y includes replacement of one or more —H atoms with CN, CF 3 , NO 2 , methoxy, benzoyl, phenoxy, phenoxymethyl or combinations thereof. These compounds are useful as antibacterial against gram negative and gram positive bacteria and as antiinflammatory agents. |
