abstract |
Disclosed herein is a method of identifying a compound which affects the interaction between SDF-1 and platelets, comprising the steps of contacting SDF-1 with platelets in the presence of a test compound in a test sample; n (b) contacting SDF-1 with platelets in the absence of a test compound in a control sample; n (c) measuring the SDF-1 effect in said test and said control samples; and n (d) identifying compounds which increase or decrease said SDF-1 effect in the test sample compared to the control sample. n method of treating a patient with a vascular disease by administering an inhibitor of the interaction between stromal cell derived factor-1 (SDF-1) and platelets, in an amount effective to reduce the symptoms of said disease. Also disclosed is a method of stimulating the interaction between SDF-1 and platelets, as well as methods to identify compounds that modulate the above interaction. |
