Disclosed is a silver halide emulsion comprising gold-sensitized silver halide grains having a silver chloride content of 95 mole % or more, wherein from 8% to 50% of the amount of gold existing on the part of the silver halide grains is in the state of metal gold. n The silver halide emulsion is an emulsion having a high silver chloride content that has high sensitivity and low fogging, and reduced both high illumination intensity reciprocity law failure and regression of latent image in the initial stage after exposure. |
