abstract An electronic cigarette has a base part and a cartridge configured to be assembled thereto. The base part includes a battery and at least one heating element connected to the battery. The cartridge includes: a substance chamber configured for containing therein a substance to be smoked, wherein the substance chamber has a substance outlet; a vaporization chamber in communication with the substance outlet for receiving the substance therein; and at least one heat transfer unit configured, at least when the cartridge is assembled to the base part, for being heated by the heating element of the base part and for heating the substance provided via the substance outlet.
