abstract Disclosed herein is a method for preparing a superabsorbent polymer for absorbing blood or highly viscous liquid including a) providing a superabsorbent resin; b) pre-treating the superabsorbent resin of step a) by mixing a water-soluble polyvalent cationic salt in an amount of 0.001 to 5.0 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the superabsorbent resin provided in step a); and c) surface treating the pre-treated superabsorbent resin of step b) by mixing a polycarbonic acid-based copolymer in an amount of 0.001 to 5.0 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the superabsorbent resin provided in step a).
