abstract | Rendering a surface hydrophobic without tackifying the surface, wherein the surface may be a particulate surface. Methods for forming a coating on one or more particulates may comprise: providing a composition comprising a hydrophobizing agent comprising an oligomeric polyamine having a carbon atom:nitrogen atom ratio of about 4:1 or more, and a plurality of hydrophobic groups bonded to at least a portion of the nitrogen atoms in the oligomeric polyamine; and forming coated particulates comprising a coating of the hydrophobizing agent on one or more particulates. Illustrative particulates that may be coated include those that are present in a subterranean formation or that are to be introduced to a subterranean formation. |
