abstract Test elements are disclosed for detecting at least one analyte in a body fluid, where the test elements include a housing having at least one base element and at least one cover element. The test elements also include at least one fluid channel formed within the housing, where the fluid channel includes a capillary region and a measurement region. The capillary region and the measurement region have differing aspect ratios. The cover element includes at least one test field having at least one test chemical, where the test chemical is adapted to change at least one optically measurable property in the presence of the analyte. In addition, the cover element is mounted to the base element via at least one adhesive that contacts the test field.
