| abstract | The invention relates to an antacid pharmaceutical composition for the rapid and prolonged neutralization of gastric acidity with a protective effect on the gastric mucosa in the form of a powder, for preparation, by dissolving in water, a pharmaceutical solution or suspension for oral administration. The composition contains sodium alginate, a soluble antacid agent or combination of antacids, a proton pump inhibitor, a diluent and sweeteners, where (a) from 20% to 30% of sodium alginate present in the composition together with the total amount of proton pump inhibitor are homogeneously distributed over the surface of the entire antacid an agent or combination of antacids in the composition, and (b) another amount, close to 70%, of the sodium alginate present in the composition has a moisture content of less than 2%. |
