titleOfInvention METHOD FOR DETECTING A SURFACE BREAKDOWN IN A P-N Junction
abstract The method for detecting surface breakdown in the pn junction consists in measuring the current-voltage characteristics of the reverse current of the pn junction, and the breakdown voltage is determined from this characteristic. These measurements are performed two times: during the first measurement, the investigated pn junction is placed in dry air, and in the second measurement, it is placed in a container with air and wet ammonia vapors with a partial pressure of 1 to 200 Pa, which makes it possible to compare the measured voltage values breakdown to establish whether breakdown occurs on the surface of the pn junction, or in the bulk of the crystal.
