titleOfInvention METHOD OF OBTAINING OXYCODONE $ METHOD OF OBTAINING OXYCODONE
abstract A method of producing oxycodone of formula I by reacting thebaine of formula II or an analogue of formula III, where R is C-C1-6alkyl, alkylaryl, mainly benzyl, methoxybenzyl or allyl, with hydrogen peroxide or peroxo acid in the presence of oxalic acid mixed with acetic or formic acid. From the obtained crystalline precipitate of 4-hydroxycodeinone oxalate, by adding a base, 14-hydroxycodeinone of formula IV is liberated, which is hydrogenated with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst, to obtain oxycodone of formula (I). Oxycodone is converted to hydrochloride, which is used as an active substance in analgesic formulations.
