abstract | The proposed method for fast determining content of nitrates in milk consists in treating the analyzed milk sample with water solution of alumocalcite haloids, measuring the potential of the measuring electrode, which is selective to nitrate ions, relative to the potential of the reference electrode, which is made of argentic chloride, when the electrodes are in contact with the sample, and determining the content of nitrates by the value of the said potential. To prepare the sample, milk is treated with sulfuric acid solution, filtered for separating cheese and fat, and treated with silver sulfate in order to deposit chlorides. The potential of the measuring electrode is measured in medium with saturated solution of potassium sulfate. |
