abstract	A method for treating acute respiratory failure in the early period of a traumatic illness includes performing ganglioplegia by introducing a 5% pentamine solution in an intensive care unit. In accordance with the invention, moderately prolonged ganglioplegia is performed by introducing pentamine in small doses intravenously at a rate of 0.25-0.35 mg / kg. The introduction of a 5% solution of pentamine is carried out according to the following scheme: the first day - at 0.1-0.15 mg / kg, the second - 0.2-0.3 mg / kg, the third - at 0.3-0.45 mg / kg, the fourth - at 0.4-0.6 mg / kg, the fifth, sixth and seventh days - at 0.5-0.75 mg / kg.
